Additional Information:
Most are pheasant feathers I use, thanks to my father-in-law who used to tie fishing flies. Some blue, yellow, and red feathers are from my friend who raises parrots, which I sterilize the feathers by boiling.
As noted on each pair, earrings and clips come in three general lengths: s=shorter (1 1/4 - 2”), m=mid (2 - 3 ½”), L=long (4-5”) and XL=longer (6-9”). The number after the description indicates how many feathers are used in each earring or clip. Ear wires are sterling silver or gold plated.
Clips are very versatile adornment pieces, both for personal wear and for home decorating. They look great in the hair and can easily be removed (unlike the sewn in ones that you have to cut your hair to get out). I also like to wear mine as brooch clips, and have also just clipped it to a necklace for a multiple look. They also adorn my bathroom on the mirror, or could be clipped to a lamp shade. My husband even has one on his rear view mirror in his truck. Plastic clips are either black or two-toned brown.
All items are handmade to order, and no two feathers are exactly alike, so slight variations in the color, size, and shape are possible. Each earring/clip is glued before inserting into the bead or clamp, then glued again for durability. The easy part about feathers, is that if they get wet, they dry nicely. If they get dusty, they clean up beautifully with a damp cloth. You can even run them under water, tamp dry, slightly shape, lay flat, and they dry beautifully.
Please note the photography of these earrings has light and dark reflections here and there which can make colors look lighter or brighter than the actual colors.
I’ve been selling feather earrings to art galleries and gift shops since 2008.
